Tyre Rotation: Why & How Often

Rotating your tyres — swapping their positions at set intervals — is free at fitting and can add thousands of kilometres to their life.

Why tyres wear unevenly

Front tyres on most Kenyan cars do the steering and (on front-wheel-drive cars) put down the power, so they wear faster than the rears. Left unrotated, you replace fronts twice as often as rears.

How often

Every 10,000 km, or at every service, is a good rule. We do it free when you service your tyres with us.

Patterns

• Front-wheel drive: fronts go straight back; rears cross to the front.
• Rear-wheel drive / 4x4: rears go straight forward; fronts cross to the rear.
• Directional tyres: front-to-back on the same side only.

Don't rotate if the tyres are already worn unevenly from an alignment problem — fix the alignment first, or you just move the problem around.
